abu ambassadeur 6000 vintage reel...

here we have an early ambassadeur 6000, with the smooth reel foot with no foot number. The reel has a few parts that later models didnt have.The tension caps although having polished chrome tops with oil holes have matt knurled turnings, the plastic levelwind cog has a brass insert moulded into the plastic and the abu crest is pinned into place, the collar on the star wheel fits into the chrome upstand rather than over it and more unusual the driveplate has a elongated hole in it just below the spool release button, a design feature that is more commonly found on teh 5600c/6600c range of reels to allow the metal peg of the thumb release bar to operate the free spool, so a little bit different.Anway, the reel itself is in servicable condition and although showing signs of rash on the top and bottom sideplates isnt in too bad of a condition, certainly no holes or corrosion.The single counter balance handle operates the spool and the levelwind buzzes across.
