The classic baitcasting reel designed to allow for single handed casting, the red thumbar allows the angler to engage free spool with one hand whilst still holding the rod.Clever design will not allow free spool to be selected whilst the line is under tension. This example has had a brand new cage fitted and brand new sideplates to an already well cared for Swedish ambassadeur making for this rather delightful reel we have today.Because of the lack of the usual free spool button there is less chance of water and dirt getting inside the right sideplate leading to corrosion or damage of the gears and bearing.These reels os course are fitted with the stainless steel bearings and not the brass bushes of the non "c" models. Sympathetically restored i would say, allowing the next user to get many more years of use from this superb Swedish reel. Originally built in 1977, this reel was the smaller brother to the superb 6600c that was designed for heavier casting weights, still for salmon and pike as is this example, with dual tension control for the spool, abu's superb levelwind system and as you would expect, brass gearing and tough drag.
